The Town of Hot Sulphur Springs has upgraded its drinking water infrastructure with "Stimulus" funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) via the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

This project was completed on time and in budget and received several awards!

The following items were engineered and built between June 2009 & December 2010:

  • Replacement of the water intake system and related river restoration work.
  • Addition of a new, state-of-the-art membrane water filter. The existing water filter was re-fitted to become a pre-filter.
  • Replacement of the clear well at the water treatment plant.
  • Addition of a second water tank next to the existing tank on West Roosevelt.

June 10, 2011 Final Inspection and Completion Letter received from the Colorado Dept. of Public Health and Environment
Dec 13, 2010 The Town of Hot Sulphur Springs accepted the construction project as complete.
Nov 13, 2010 Ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new water treatment plant.
October 2010 The new water tank, water filter and water plant began testing procedures to go into service.
March 2010 Construction season began for 2010.
Dec 09 - Mar 10 Work on final designs and specifications progressed and equipment and materials were ordered.
October 2009 Construction began. Work was completed on the new intake structure and clear well.
Sept 2009 Garney Construction was selected as the General Contractor. Funding was secured. Groundbreaking ceremony was held.
Aug-Sept 2009 Bidding process began, contractor meetings were held, bidding closed on Sept. 3, 2009.
July 2009 CDPHE approved the Final Plans and Specifications for construction.
June 2009 Final Plans submitted to CDPHE.
